On Dec. 21, members from “Friends for a cause” in Robstown did their part in spreading holiday cheer throughout the community. Through private donations, money was raised to purchase gifts for children and families less fortunate.
“It is great to be able to help out the kids in the community, including those that lost their homes to a fire recently,” said Joseph Ramirez, vice chairman of Friends for a Cause Committee, “The event grows more every year. This year along with toys, we are also giving laptops, and Nintendo Wiis. Next year, God willing, we can also give a scholarship.”
The group began gathering at Centennial park in Robstown. Before departing for the homes they'd be visiting, the group reflected in prayer. Along with their gifts, a Bible was given to each family to help them through troubled times.
From the park, two trucks with trailers, one carrying gifts and one with members of the group and their families, proceeded throughout the city. Present with the group was Santa Claus to help with delivery. The group was escorted by Robstown police.
