Daughters of the Republic of Texas hold celebrate Texian Navy Day

The Clara Driscoll Chapter of the Daughters of the Republic of Texas (DRT) celebrated Texian Navy Day with a Luncheon held at the Water Street Oyster Bar Restaurant in Corpus Christi Saturday, September 14, 2012.

Nineteen women attended the Luncheon which marked the first official function of the Daughters for the new season.

The Daughters of the Republic of Texas are a group of women whose ancestry lineage can be traced back to the years of the Republic of Texas. Each member must have had a direct line grandparent living in Texas when it was a Republic. The last date for membership is February 19, 1846.

September DRT functions include a District VII Workshop in Fulton, TX. which will be held September 29, 2012 with Chapters attending from Beeville, Brownsville, Corpus Christ, Edna, Goliad, Laredo, New Braunfels, Rockport, San Antonio, Uvalde, Victoria.

Another function will be held by the Clara Driscoll Chapter in conjunction with the Nueces County Historical Commission's yearly Old Bayview Cemetery Walk: "Voices of South Texas - Old Bayview Cemetery Comes Alive" which is a Veteran's Day tribute to be held Saturday November 10th, 2012 from 10:00a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

The public is invited to stop by the DRT table at the Cemetery and visit the Daughters as we will discuss DRT and Children of the Republic of Texas,(CRT), membership requirements, as well as look up surnames.
