Harris replaces Phil Gaarder who has accepted a new corporate leadership position as vice president - global operations integration. Gaarder will be based in Wichita, Kan.

In addition to various engineering and operations roles at the Corpus Christi refining complex, he spent two years in the company's business development group in Houston in the late 1990s. He was named chemical production manager in 2002, and has also directed the chemicals optimization team previously.

Flint Hills Resources employs about 900 individuals in Corpus Christi.
