Are you a third-, fourth- or fifth-grader with an interest in birds? Are you the parent of a child that is in the third, fourth or fifth grade that shows an interest in birds? If you are, we are going to be having a special five-week class this summer at the Northwest Branch Library.

The first class will be held at 2 p.m. June 10. We will have special guest speaker Beth Hoekje teach birding basics and identification basics. The other four classes will be held on Mondays at 2 p.m. We will learn different birding skills at each class. All the children who attend the classes will receive a coloring book developed from the pen and ink drawings of the Dinah Bowman Birding Site Map you can find at the Northwest Branch Library.

We will be having a couple of fun things for children in the next few days to celebrate National Children's Book Week. On May 10, come to the "Tea Party with the Queen" at 2:30 p.m. Come dressed in your fancy dress, bring your favorite stuffed animal and join us for punch and cookies.

On May 15 at 4:30 p.m. we will be "making" a book. We will be having our regular P.J. storytime Tuesdays at 7 p.m. and family storytime Wednesdays and Thursdays at 11 a.m.

Remember the "Jubilee 1958-2008" summer reading program starts on June 2. We will be having lots of free fun things for your child to enjoy. Come check out our calendars for a list of the events.
