If you haven't heard yet, we have great news at the Northwest Library - all Texas residents are able to get a free library card.
That means if you live in Odem, Sinton, Robstown, Driscoll or any of our outlying areas, you and your family members can get a card for free at Northwest. I hope that brings back a lot of our patrons that we have been missing. If you haven't seen the new library, now is a perfect time to come back to Northwest. It's hard to believe it's been almost a year since we moved back into our new building.
I had a really good time in Oklahoma with my parents and sister. It's really hard to come back to Corpus Christi because I am royally pampered when I visit my parents. My sister and I are probably going to have to make some hard choices in the next couple of years.
My parents are getting older (I don't know how that's possible, since I'm not) and may not be able to take care of themselves later. My dad is a royal trooper and I have to remember that he is in his 80s and tires sooner, but I am thankful for every day that I still have my parents.
I had homegrown tomatoes, peaches off the tree and my favorite chocolate sheet cake. The weather was nice and the people were friendly, but best of all, I got away from all the stress in my house. I really didn't want to come home.
Raising teens and tweens is never easy, but when they are your grandchildren it seems to be harder.
We still have P.J. story time on Tuesday nights at 7 p.m., and family story times on Wednesdays and Thursdays at 11 a.m. Come join our fun. Also, beginning Sunday, we will be open every Sunday from 2 to 6 p.m.
Jean Meadors is the children's librarian for the Northwest Branch Library in Corpus Christi. Readers may contact her at 241-9329.
