The suggestion made by (Robstown Independent School District trustee Roberto Tapia) to raise taxes to pay for keeping non-professional employees is the most idiotic suggestion made by an elected official. It's not the function of a school district to provide jobs for the community it serves.
If suggesting raising taxes is the only solution to the current problem with the school district's budget problems, that illustrates to me that this board is more interested in being confrontational and divisive rather than working together for the betterment of the students in this district.
Consolidating and downsizing are not new concepts in today's economy. If taking these actions as proposed by (RISD superintendent Roberto Garcia) does not impact the learning process of the students, it can only benefit this district without the burden of raising taxes as suggested by (Tapia).
