CORPUS CHRISTI —Danza Universitaria, an internationally-renowned dance troupe, will make a very special appearance this Wednesday, September 28, 2016, at The Corpus Christi Downtown Farmers’ Market.
“We couldn’t be more excited to welcome Danza Universitaria to The Market this week,” said Downtown Farmers’ Market Manager Amber Dollison. “We work as hard as we can to make each Market incredible so that this team will give a public presentation at The Market is going to be very special.”
Danza Universitaria will perform in the Art Center courtyard at 5:30 PM. At 6:30 PM Jacob Murphy and the CC B-Boys, a local hip hop dance crew, will lead their monthly Hip Hop For Kids program where kids of all ages get their groove on.
Danza Universitaria is in Corpus Christi to participate in the 17th Annual Bailando Dance Festival which takes place September 29-October 1, 2016, at The TAMUCC Performing Arts Center.
“The Downtown Farmer’s Market is a weekly gathering spot,” said GROW Local South Texas Executive Director Aislynn Campbell. “This is why we bring arts, culture and fun to The Farmers’ Market every week. It starts with great locally-grown food, but between the cooking demonstrations, yoga, kids activities, food trucks, live music and special events, the Bayfront is the best place to be on Wednesday nights.”
Danza Universitaria is the contemporary dance company of the University of Costa Rica, founded in 1978. For the artistic quality, theme, and consistency of their work, Danza is one of the most representative groups of Costa Rican dance, and is a leader in the development of dance movement in the country.
