A Jim Wells County deputy was put on administrative leave Saturday following an incident which involved a weapon at Lake Findley.

Interim Sheriff Louie Valadez said Monday the details are sketchy and he is waiting for the full report from Alice police to rule if the deputy violated any policies.

"He was in his vehicle and he was off duty," Valadez said. "If there were any violations, we will take appropriate action."

The incident at Lake Findley about 5 p.m. Saturday involved three men and the deputy. The encounter stemmed from an "unsettled dispute" between on of the men and the deputy. During their meeting, a handgun was displayed.

A decision on the deputy's fate could be determined as early as Monday.
