CORPUS CHRISTI– The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) seized 76 pounds of cocaine on Saturday after a Texas Highway Patrol trooper pulled over a truck tractor semi-trailer in Nueces County.
At approximately 1:11 a.m., a DPS Trooper conducted a traffic stop on a 2005 Peterbilt truck tractor semi-trailer traveling northbound on U.S. 77 south of Calallen.
During a roadside inspection the Trooper subsequently discovered 33 kilo bricks of cocaine, worth an estimated $250,000, concealed in folded tarps on the front end of the flatbed trailer.
The driver, Hugo Morales, 45 years of age, of Edinburg, Texas, was arrested and charged with possession of controlled substance. Morales was transported to the Nueces County Jail.
