Cadets from the Tuloso-Midway High School NJROTC unit were treated to a wonderful day of unusual experiences at the 45th Annual National Rattle Snake Races held in the historic town of San Patricio, Texas over the weekend.

After completing the privilege of presenting Colors to the assembled crowd, the Tuloso-Midway cadets were treated to lunch, spoken of favorably by the event announcer, and treated like celebrities by being allowed to actually race a live rattlesnake down the race course under the supervision of the professional snake handlers ensuring they were safe at all times.

“It was the most exciting thing I have ever done. I was even able to ride a camel!”, commented Cadet Jonathan Collinsworth. The cadets enjoyed the hospitality of the event staff and look forward to assisting and participating in the event next year.
