The NJROTC cadets from Tuloso-Midway High School made their triumphant return home on Saturday after spending a grueling, but exciting, week at the US Marine Recruit Training Base at Parris Island, SC.
The cadets were treated to many new experiences during the week including rappelling off of a 50-foot tower, the gas chamber, the National Museum of Naval Aviation, and a trip though Florida State University.
At the beginning of their training, the cadets were able to experience the terrifying thrill of “indoc” at the infamous “Yellow Foot Prints”. This is the place where every new Marine begins the transition from civilian to Marine as they get off the bus at Parris Island. The week-long event is designed to instill the drive and self-confidence needed by all cadets to become better students, leaders, team members, and citizens of the community in which they live.
