Corpus Christi - Texas Department of Public Safety is investigating an auto-pedestrian fatality crash that occurred on Tuesday, July 25 at 11:23 p.m. on Interstate 37, about three miles north of George West in Live Oak County.
Joaquin Orellana Rivera, 46, from El Salvador-driver of a Toyota was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash.
Preliminary investigation revealed a 2014 Dodge Ram 3500 pick-up truck, occupied by the driver only) was traveling south on Interstate 37. A 1990 Toyota Tacoma, occupied by one male driver only, towing two other vehicles was disabled in the left south bound lane from a prior crash without any lights.
The driver of the Toyota was standing outside of the vehicle, standing between the two vehicles being towed. Driver of the Dodge was unable to see the disabled vehicles in the roadway and struck one of the towing vehicles from the rear.
The driver of the Dodge did not sustain any injuries.
Troopers are further investigating the crash at this time.
