Corpus Christi-Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) is investigating a three vehicle fatality crash that occurred on Thursday, Aug. 3 at approximately 10 p.m. on U.S. 77, approximately two miles north of Bishop in Nueces County.

Preliminary investigation revealed a 1996 Freightliner truck tractor semi-trailer (occupied by the driver only) was traveling north on U.S. 77 in the left lane. 

A 2004 Toyota Corolla passenger car (occupied by the driver only) was traveling west on FM 3354 and failed to yield the right of way at the stop intersection of FM 3354 and US 77, and was struck by Freightliner truck tractor semi-trailer US 77 northbound in the left lane.

The driver of the Toyota was identified as Erika Galindo Alvarez, 40, of Kingsville was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash.

 The male driver of the truck tractor semi-trailer did not sustain any injuries.  Troopers are further investigating the crash at this time.
