NJROTC cadets at Tuloso-Midway High School began their practice sessions this week for the 2017-2018 Air Rifle Team.
A school record 23 cadets have signed up to try out for the team. The cadets are trained in all aspects of firearm safety. A generous grant from the National Rifle Association (NRA) provided valuable materials such as targets, pellets, and telescopes, ensuring the cadets will enjoy an active and rewarding shooting season.
Team Capt. Cadet Ensign Kierstan Gonzales leads the team this year.
“I think it is wonderful that so many cadets want to compete on the team this year. That says a lot about our program. So many cadets want to shoot that we had to break them into two teams,” she said.
No less than nine air rifle competitions are planned for this year and the cadets plan to do their best for each shooting match.
