This year's Carcass Steer competition at the Nueces County Junior Livestock Show is noted as the top in the last four decades.
According to Mr. Tracy Wright, Superintendent of the Carcass Steer Competition,, "This years contestants, put forth the highest quality of steer in the history of this nearly forty year competition.."Five of the steer were prime and the rest were above choice.,"The marbling was out of this world - off the charts - best we've ever seen,." Mr. Wright continued. "All of the kids did a tremendous job and we're very proud of them."
First place for this year's Carcass Competition, known as the Grand Champion was awarded to 15-year-old Grant Miller. Reserve Champion, or second place went to 17-year-old Macie Scarborough.
