The Nueces County Community Services, under the direction of Edward Herrera and Marcy Santos, held the 30th Annual Valentine Queen Coronation and dance on Tuesday, February 13, 2018 at the Robstown Community Center with approximately 150 guests attending. Activity Coordinator, Elaine Bockholt opened the program with Valentine Greetings. Master of Ceremonies, Kristin Diaz of Channel 3 News introduced each of the five Queens and their escorts. The Grand March included: Queen Maria Rivera of Robstown escorted by Mr. Jesse Rios, Queen Janie Garcia of Driscoll escorted by her husband Tomas Garcia, Queen Alicia Alvarez of Bishop escorted by her husband Jesus Alvarez, Queen Juanita Espinoza of Banquete escorted by her son Gilbert Espinoza, and Kay Corral of Agua Dulce escorted by her husband, Rudy Corral. Commissioner John Marez, Pct. #3 and Commissioner Joe A. Gonzalez, Pct. #2, and Commissioner Mike Pusley of Pct. # 1 had the honor of crowning the 2018 Valentine Queens. Refreshments followed with a dance featuring “Conjunto De Chuy Espinosa”.” Community Services would like to extend special thanks to Humana, Citica Home Health, Nueces County Inland Parks and Ditto’s Photography & Video’s, all the Site Councils, all the 2018 Valentine Queens and their families and Community Services Staff for making this a memorable event.
