For more than 40 years, the Women's Shelter has provided a haven for those affected with domestic violence for sexual assault. This year the Women's Shelter was renamed to The Purple Door to reflect the organizations mission.
The Purple Door offers support and empowerment to children, women, and men through counseling services. Counseling services are available to people who have never been victims of domestic violence or sexual assault, even if you choose not to stay in the shelter.
Services are always free and confidential to all victims.
The organization has a team of Master’s level counselors who are available to counsel women, men, and children who have been victims of domestic violence and/or sexual assault. We can also assist their family members. We offer individual and group counseling in our offices or in a safe location within our service area.
Our counseling team can help you address issues such as safety planning, empowerment, the dynamics of family violence and sexual assault, profiles of batterers, the cycle of violence and building healthy relationships. Additional services for child clients include play therapy.

The Purple Door also offers a number of group services, some only at the shelter and some at our outreach locations as well. All services are offered to both our residential clients and non-residential clients.
