ROBSTOWN - For six years in a row, State Rep. Abel Herrero and the Robsown community have partner to host school supply and backpack giveaway.
The 6th Annual School Supplies Giveaway was on Wednesday, August 1, at the Robstown High School Auditorium.
The School Supplies Giveaway is a community event in which families can receive free backpacks and essential school supplies for children of all ages. Roughly 1,200 filled backpacks were available while supplies last. Children were accompanied by a parent/guardian in order to receive school supplies, and parents must have a child with them.
The 3-hour giveaway filled the auditorium with hundreds of children and their parents. Music and fun entertained the families and Herrero even strutted a few dance moves.
The giveaway was possible through State Rep. Herrero in partnership with Wesley Community Center, Robstown ISD, Saint Benedict’s Home Health, Citgo, Port of Corpus Christi, Valero, US Ecology, Walmart, Flint Hills, Cheniere, The GEO Group, PepsiCo, ExxonMobil, Gulf States Toyota, NuStar, Holt Cat, Driscoll Health Plan, Christus Health, Golden Chick, LyondellBasell, South Coastal AHEC, Robstown Police Department, Corpus Christi Police Officers Association, Nueces County Drainage District #2, Norma and Rudy Cantu, and others.
