Wednesday, Sept. 5 – Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi is hosting Islanders Night Out, to be held at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 5, in the University Center, Anchor Ballroom. This event, which is open to all Islander students, is focused on promoting a culture of consent and safety on campus. The special guest speaker is Justin Jones-Fosu. Thursday, Sept. 6 – As part of Waves of Welcome, Texas A&M-Corpus Christi is hosting an Islander Impact Service Fair on Thursday, Sept. 6, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the University Center Lonestar Ballroom. The room will be full of community and campus groups offering volunteer and service opportunities for students to find ways to make their #IslanderImpact!

Thursday, Sept. 6 – The Weil Gallery at Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi welcomes photographer Odette England and her exhibition titled “The Outskirts/Exposed.” Her collection of photographic works explores the relationships between autobiographical and vernacular photography. A public lecture featuring Odette England will take place on Thursday, Sept. 6, from 5-6 p.m. in the O’Connor building, room 117, followed by an opening reception from 6-7:30 p.m. in the Weil Gallery, located in the Center for Arts. Both the lecture and opening reception are free and open to the public. England is an assistant professor of photography and Graduate Program Director at Rhode Island School of Design (RISD). She earned an MA at the University of South Australia, an MFA at RISD, and Ph.D. at Australian National University. Friday, Sept. 7 – More than 2,200 first-year Islander students are expected to attend Convocation, hosted by A&M-Corpus Christi on Friday, Sept. 7, at 3 p.m. in the Island Hall Gym. Convocation is a ceremony during which faculty, staff, and administrators officially welcome the incoming First-Year Islanders class to A&M-Corpus Christi. The purpose of Convocation is to celebrate students’ entry into the Islander community. Friday, Sept. 7 – Join Texas A&M-Corpus Christi President Kelly Quintanilla as she welcomes all Islanders to campus for the fall semester. ThePresident's Welcome Back Splash, to be held Friday, Sept. 7, at 4 p.m. on the East Lawn, will include food, music, fun and more! The event is sponsored by President’s Office, Recreational Sports, and Islander Athletics.

Through Saturday, Sept. 8 – Texas A&M-Corpus Christi is hosting Waves of Welcome to greet both new and returning Islanders to campus for the Fall 2018 semester. Coming Soon – Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi will host the State of the University 2018 on Thursday, September 12. In an interactive, dynamic program, Kelly M. Quintanilla, president and CEO of Texas A&M-Corpus Christi, will address the Coastal Bend community from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. during a luncheon in the University Center, Anchor Ballroom.
