Corpus Christi – The City of Corpus Christi’s Public Libraries will kick-off their annual “Food for Fines” drive Saturday, September 1, benefiting the Coastal Bend Food Bank.
Non-perishable cans, packaged food, and pet food items will be accepted and in exchange will clear participant’s overdue library fees only. Each donated item is worth $1 in overdue fees. Glass containers, open packages, repackaged or expired food items will not be accepted.
The drive, held in honor of National Hunger Awareness Month, is organized to help residents in need throughout the Coastal Bend while promoting the multiple services available through Corpus Christi Public Libraries. Some of those services include free internet, wi-fi, digital audio books, e-books, e-content, and magazines.
