The following students from Agua Dulce and Robstown graduated from Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi during the 2008 Summer Commencement held Saturday:

Robstown: Audrey Rose Anzaldua, College of Business, Bachelor of Business Administration; Abraham Arevalo Jr., College of Business, Bachelor of Business Administration; Derrick Chase Frazier, College of Business, Bachelor of Business Administration; Floyd Edwin Gonzalez, College of Business, Bachelor of Business Administration; Alexander Saenz, College of Business, Bachelor of Business Administration; Jeffery Allen Howerton, College of Education, Bachelor of Science; Melinda M. Morales, College of Education, Bachelor of Science in Interdisciplinary Studies; Snehal Ashok Bhakta, College of Science and Technology, Master of Science.

Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi awards bachelors, masters and doctoral degrees from the Colleges of Business Education, Liberal Arts, Nursing and Health Sciences and Science and Technology. TAMUCC, the only university in the United States located on its own island, is a member of the Texas A&M University System.

Two local students have received $5,000 scholarships each from the South Texas Lighthouse for the Blind.

Nathan Turner, a 2008 Calallen High School graduate, and Michael Ortega, a 2008 Bishop High School graduate, were honored at a special presentation July 21.

Turner and Ortega may utilize the scholarships for the 2008-09 academic year.
