Three Robstown Independent School District voice students competed June 1 at the annual State Solo and Ensemble Contest at Texas State University in San Marcos.
To earn the honor of advancing to State, the students earned a Superior rating at the Regional UIL Solo and Ensemble contest in February.
At the State Solo and Ensemble Contest, Monica Lopez, a 2009 Robstown High School graduate and college voice scholarship recipient, sang the Italian solo "Sento nel Core," and earned a Silver Medal-Division II.
Alyssa Rodriguez, a 2009 Robstown High School graduate and future psychology major who plans on attending Del Mar, sang the French solo "Le Charme," and earned a Silver Medal-Division II.
Arnie Rodriguez, a Robstown High School band student and a member of the class of 2011, sang the Italian solo "O del mio dolce ardor" and earned a gold medal-Division I.
Mark Peppard, the choir teacher for Robstown High School, praised the students for their strong showing.
