The fifth annual Juneteenth festival was held June 21 at Portela Park in Robstown. Attendees were treated to live music and various exhibitors from around the area. Roy Tipton, who has played locally for about 50 years, was the featured band at the event.
Local and state dignitaries were also invited to the Juneteenth celebration and were also in attendance. U.S. Rep. Solomon Ortiz sent a proclamation to the event, but was unable to attend. City council member Sybil Tipton said a $300 scholarship, which was donated by various local businesses, was awarded to Michael Price as well, who will be attending Texas A&M University-Kingsville.
"I would just like to thank the community for attending, as well all of the local businesses who helped to make this event possible," said city council member Sybil Tipton.
