Sheltered Sparrow Productions held a kick-off registration Saturday at Hilltop Community Center in Annaville for its fall production of Disney's "Cinderella Kids" licensed by Music Theatre International.

Twenty-one aspiring young actors enrolled in the cast for the musical production that will be presented in Corpus Christi in mid-November. The actors range in age from 6 to 17, both boys and girls. The enrollment will remain open until the cast is full.

The Disney musical has roles which include Cinderella, Fairy Godmother, Prince Charming, mice, horses, coachmen, The Grand Duke, King, Stepmother and Stepsisters, Town Criers and narrators.

Tuition fee for the production is $150, and the second child in a family is free. But Sparrow's mission is to include every child with the desire to be part of a team of performers. Familes who need financial help may apply for free tuition.

Rehearsals begin Aug. 25 in Annaville on Monday nights at 6 p.m. at Hilltop Community Center. Experience is not a requirement to join the cast of Sparrow. Every child is guaranteed an onstage role after completing their 12-week rehearsal/workshop sessions.

Sparrow's mission is to "give children a safe place to express themselves through the theatre arts." Auditions are conducted within the group.

The Annaville troupe was only six strong in the May production of "Big Bad Wolf and Twains Tales" at Delmar College. They performed with Sparrow's original troupe from Aransas Pass.

As part of their summer community service projects, selected members of the troupe will perform for two latchkey schools in Corpus Christi and at the Keach Family Library in Robstown.
