Two people were transported to a local hospital last week following a two car accident at the intersection of State Highway 44 and Callicoatte Road.

The driver, a Robstown native in her late 20s, was driving along Callicoatte Road in a Honda Civic when she allegedly failed to yield the right of way to a pickup truck being driven by an Alice man in his late 50s.

The man was driving a Chevrolet Silverado heading westbound on Highway 44, Texas Department of Public Safety State Trooper Marco Everett said. The man was traveling with his son at the time of the accident, but the boy was not injured in the accident, Everett said.

Everett declined to give the name of either driver last week, as he was still in the process of verifying the identity of the female driver.

He said the accident was still under investigation, but that the woman, who was transported to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries along with the pickup driver, could be cited for failure to yield right of way.
