The 14th annual Cottonfest is set to get underway this weekend at the Richard M. Borchard Fairgrounds' Equestrian Center.

The Cottonfest pre-celebration will be held Friday at 6 p.m. with a cook-off outside the fairgrounds, followed by a tailgate party at 10 p.m. after the Robstown Cotton Pickers football game against the SintonPirates.

The schedule for Saturday is as follows:

9:30 a.m. - Kick ball and Pony League Opening Ceremonies

1:00 to 5:00 p.m. - Cottonfest Car Show

1:30 to 5:00 p.m. - Musical entertainment featuring Augustine, Herencia, Ballet Folklorico (Kingsville) and Anjelica.

5:00 to 6:45 p.m. - Orange Grove-native band "City Limits"

7:00 to 10:00 p.m. - "The Brew," an Austin-based Latin jazz-band

10:00 p.m. - Fireworks Grand Finale

Sunday's events will include:

5:00 p.m. - Tae Kwan Do

6:30 to 8:00 p.m. - Local favorite Clarissa Serna

8:00 to 9:00 p.m. - "La Conquista," an all-female cumbia-pop band

Also featured at Cottonfest will be a trail ride in the Equestrian Center, turtle races, and, beginning at 5:30 p.m. on Saturday, MG's Pizza Costume Contest and Great Pumpkin Egg Hunt.
