A change was made to the 2009-10 academic calendar for the Tuloso-Midway Independent School District during a school board meeting Monday.

Trustees moved a scheduled holiday from May 24 to April 1, giving students that day off, in addition to April 2.

Board members also approved changes to the 2010-11 school calendar, removing the district's annual T-M Walk event, which was currently scheduled for July 15. The event entailed all of the district's teachers and administration walking through neighborhoods to welcome parents and their children to the district before the beginning of a new school year.

"I think it has outlived its usefulness," said interim superintendent Sue Nelson.

Also, the school board added another day to the district's time off for the Nueces County Junior Livestock Show. Jan. 13 was placed on the calendar Monday, while trustees made Jan. 12 an early release day for students.
