A 22-year old man was killed last week in a single-vehicle accident just south of Bishop.
According to Department of Public Safety reports, the accident occurred shortly before 3:30 a.m. Jan. 23 on Meadowbrook Road, on the south side of Bishop.
Reports indicate Andrew Wayne Davis, 22, was riding on the outside of a 2006 Ford F-150 driven by Barrett Ray McCraw, of Kingsville, while the vehicle was traveling eastbound on Meadowbrook Road.
According to department reports, Davis was riding on some portion of the outside of the truck when he fell off of the truck, striking the back of his head on the roadway. Davis suffered severe injuries to his head, back and left arm, and was later pronounced dead at the scene.
No alcohol was involved in the accident, according to Department of Public Safety reports, and no charges have been filed in the case.
Funeral services were held Tuesday morning at St. Gertrude Catholic Church in Kingsville, and burial followed at Roselawn Cemetery in Alice.
Davis graduated from Texas A&M University- Kingsville in December, and family members have established a scholarship fund in his honor at Kleberg Bank, in Kingsville.
