Marine Corps 2nd Lt. Jason L. Williams, son of Carrie J. and Jerry L. Williams of Corpus Christi, Texas, recently graduated from the United States Naval Academy in Annapolis, Md., and was commissioned to his current rank in the United States Marine Corps.

As a graduate of the Naval Academy, Williams completed a four-year, total-immersion program where a strong, balanced academic program focused on the educational needs of the Navy and Marine Corps, is superimposed on a strict, professional military training environment emphasizing the development of leadership skills.

Williams is a 2004 graduate of Tuloso-Midway High School of Corpus Christi, Texas.

Army Pvt. Jeremy O. Covarrubias has graduated from basic combat training at Fort Jackson, Columbia, S.C.

During the nine weeks of training, the soldier studied the Army mission, history, tradition and core values, physical fitness, and received instruction and practice in basic combat skills, military weapons, chemical warfare and bayonet training, drill and ceremony, marching, rifle marksmanship, armed and unarmed combat, map reading, field tactics, military courtesy, military justice system, basic first aid, foot marches and field training exercises.

Covarrubias is the son of Terry Covarrubias, of Bishop, Texas.
