A Robstown man was arrested last week after police reportedly found more than 20 grams of cocaine in his home.

Narcotics Officer Eddie Valadez, with the Robstown Police Department, said tips from the public led officers to execute a search and arrest warrant at the home of 53-year-old Ismael Mesa. The bust occurred Nov. 29 in the 300 block of Magee Lane.

Valadez said Mesa’s wife and granddaughter were home with the suspect when officers arrived to search the home. Mesa cooperated with police and led them to the cocaine, which was hidden in the pocket of a jacket hanging in Mesa’s bedroom closet, Valadez said.

The drugs weighed in at 20.4 grams and carried a street value of about $1,000, he said.

Valadez said Mesa informed police he had just started selling the drugs to earn extra money for the holidays, as Mesa was unable to work due to a disability.
