A group of volunteers with Girl Scout Troop 9732 assisted the Corpus Christi Police Department's Graffiti Task Force Saturday in its efforts to wipe out graffiti in the city.
The volunteers met at the Del Mar College Center for Economic Development, which is located at 3209 S. Staples Street. From there, they painted over graffiti at several locations in the 78411 and 78415 zip code areas until approximately 11 a.m., organizers said.
About 16 volunteers with the Girl Scout troop, all of whom are second- and third-graders from the Calallen and Tuloso-Midway Independent school districts, took part in the clean-up effort.
The kids painted three residential fences, totaling 150 square feet of graffiti.
The students decided to become involved in a number of activities, like the graffiti wipe-out program, that can help prepare them to become leaders of the future and that make a positive difference in their community, organizers said.
