A man wanted for the hit-and-run death of a Robstown woman last year has been arrested for the crime.

Detective Martin Flores, with the Robstown Police Department, said Camacho was apprehended in Zavala County and extradited to Nueces County on Feb. 10. Camacho had been wanted in connection with the death of 59-year-old Sandra Zarafontis. Camacho had an active felony warrant out of Nueces County for manslaughter.

Camacho is an illegal immigrant from Mexico and was believed to have fled back to the country after the accident, police said, because he had family there.

Zarafontis was killed after being struck Aug. 18 by a white pickup truck allegedly driven by Camacho. A witness found the body and called 911.

As of press time, Camacho was being held at the Nueces County Jail.
