Volunteer firefighters with the Robstown Fire Department will be holding a fundraiser this weekend in order to obtain needed gear and supplies, while also helping to gather needed donations for a local food bank.

The volunteer firefighters will be hosting the event at Diaz Park, which is located on West Avenue J, on Saturday. Live music and a DJ will provide musical entertainment for attendees, and vendors will be on hand to sell taco, brisket and other items, during the morning, organizers said.

A barbecue chicken plate sale will also be held, with the cost being $6 per plate. Money from the day's sales will go towards the purchase of new equipment for the RFD volunteer firefighters, organizers said.

The park's swimming pool will also be open for the event, but those wishing to go swimming during the event on Saturday will have to donate a canned or non-perishable food item as an entry fee before doing so.

All food donations received from the event will go towards benefiting the First Assembly of God Food Bank in Robstown, organizers said.
