Nueces County Commissioners last week appointed a new manager for the county airport in Robstown in a unanimous vote.
Commissioners interviewed three candidates during a special meeting on April 27 before selecting Tanya Swails as the new airport manager for the Nueces County Airport in a 5-0 vote. Swails is the former general manager for Signature Flight Support, which is based out of the Corpus Christi International Airport, and is currently employed as the human resources coordinator for National Nursing Rehab.
Swails holds a bachelor's degree in business accounting from the University of the Incarnate Word, as well as a master's degree in public administration from Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi.
The airport's previous supervisor, Manuel Flores, was allowed to resign Oct. 13, just two days after it was revealed in an audit that Flores had used some of the airport's funds for his own personal use. Public Works employees had been rotating shifts at the airport in Flores's place after he resigned and will continue doing so until Swails begins her new position on May 16.
In addition to being assigned a county vehicle, Swails will be paid an annual salary of $36,795.
