A 48-year-old Corpus Christi man was killed Friday after being struck by another driver near Robstown.

Cpl. Charlie Ramirez, with the Texas Department of Public Safety, said the accident took place 2.5 miles east of Robstown, at the intersection of State Highway 44 and Farm-to-Market Road 1694.

According to the DPS report, Jose Adan Palacios was traveling eastbound on Highway 44 on his 2009 Road King motorcycle. At the same time, a 2000 Jeep Cherokee driven by Monica Luis Bueno, of Corpus Christi, was traveling northbound on FM 1694.

Ramirez said Bueno disregarded the stop sign on FM 169 and entered the intersection, hitting Palacios's motorcycle on the right side. The collision knocked Palacios from his motorcycle, with his body eventually coming to rest in the eastside turnaround lane, according to the report. The motorcycle came to rest against the median upside down.

The Cherokee spun around on the crossover and came to a stop facing south on Highway 44. Bueno did not suffer any injuries in the accident.

Palacios, who was not wearing a helmet, suffered severe head trauma and was pronounced dead at the scene.
