Students with the Callalen High School Interact Club spent their Saturday caroling through Callalen neighborhoods for kids staying at the Women's Shelter.

The members also went door to door asking for donations in both items or monetary for the shelter.

The total amount collected from the project was about $500 in cash and checks, along with one truck load of containing a variety of items, such as a high chair, leather jackets, shoes and canned goods. With an additional donation from their sponsoring Rotary Club of Corpus Christi Northwest, the total donation topped $600.

The club members went to the Women's Shelter on Monday and awarded the check to Fran Wilson, chief executive officer of the Women's Shelter.

Following the donation, the club members assisted with sorting toys, clothes and dry goods in the shelter pantries.
