Robstown police said a 54-year-old woman was killed after she was struck by a vehicle while crossing one of the city’s busiest streets on Saturday.

Lt. Gilbert Gomez, with the Robstown Police Department, said the accident occurred at about 9:30 p.m. Dora Guerrero was reportedly crossing Avenue J towards the direction of CVS Pharmacy when she was struck by a car driven by a 22-year-old Corpus Christi man. Gomez said Guerrero was pronounced dead by the time Emergency Medical Services arrived on the scene shortly after the accident.

Guerrero lived in a neighborhood near where she was killed, Gomez said, and a family member arrived on the scene not long after the incident occurred.

Gomez said a blood draw was taken from the driver of the vehicle, John Paul Treviño, which is standard procedure for traffic accidents that result in the death of an individual. Treviño, who was traveling in his vehicle with another male passenger, has not been cited by police. Gomez said on Monday that the investigation is ongoing.
