The Corpus Christi Film Society is announcing their dates, venues and Steering Committee for the much-anticipated 2009 Corpus Christi 7 Day Film Project (CC7D).

Since 2007, CC7D's inaugural year, 72 filmmaking teams have created 54 films involving over 200 crewmembers and 200 actors all within the Coastal Bend. The 2008 CC7D Screening sold out in hours.

This year, CC7D is poised to become a statewide phenomenon.

In CC7D, filmmaking teams have 7 days to make a short film from start to finish. The filmmakers are all given the same three elements that must appear in their film.

The films are screened to the public with the best films receiving awards and cash prizes. In addition to judging the best films, awards are also given for categories such as Best Actor and Actress and Best Technical Achievement and, new for 2009, Best Young Filmmaker.

CC7D is open to anyone and first time filmmakers are highly encouraged to participate.

One focus of CC7D in 2009 is to widen the network of participating teams.

"We want filmmakers from Austin and San Antonio this year," says Hilliard. "This is the year CC7D puts Corpus Christi on the map as a serious Texas filmmaking city."

Coastal Bend citizens who don't wish to lead a team can still be involved. "It's open to everyone," continues Hilliard. "If you've ever wanted to work on a film crew or see yourself on the big screen, this is your chance. It is open to anyone that wants to be involved."
