In a statement released by Nueces County Commissioners Court, a burn ban has been renewed for the December season and New Year's in the unincorporated areas of Nueces County. The court cited continuation of drought conditions for the ban. In a letter signed on Dec. 14 from the court, no person may, “sell, detonate, ignite or in any way use restricted fireworks.”

Included in the letter were the mention of the Texas Forest Service notice that drought conditions continue throughout the county.

The court stated, “…the need to protect citizens and property located in Nueces County from the risk of fire damage to persons and property.”

The ban will possibly be lifted in March 2012.
