The Robstown High School SkillsUSA Drafting Club participated in the SkillsUSA State Skills & Leadership Contest April 3 through 5 in Corpus Christi.
The club members who advanced from the District competition entered a writing contest and eight skills and leadership contests. These contests were against the first-place winners in all the other districts in Texas, regardless of school size.
Selina Arce placed third in the Iota Lamda Sigma Career & Technology Teacher's Honor Society writing contest. She received a trophy and a $50 cash prize.
Chapter Display team members Steven Charles, Ruben Elizondo, Rudy Gonzalez, Ashley Hernandez, Chelsea Koenig, Omar Lopez, Jonathon Mares, Ray Vasquez and Rene Zavala placed third and received a team trophy and individual bronze medals.
The Promotional Bulletin Board team of Veronica Anguiano, Abigail Garcia, Stephen Garcia, Michael Hinojosa, Liza Silva and Leslie Vasquez also placed third and received a team trophy and individual bronze medals.
In Mechanical Drafting Skills, Rudy Gonzalez won second place, receiving a trophy and silver medal and Ashley Hernandez placed third, receiving a trophy and a bronze medal.
