Parishioners of the First United Methodist Church of Robstown and the Banquete United Methodist Church recently welcomed a new pastor.

Rev. Ann Locasio became the pastor of both churches June 12 and is currently serving on the board of directors for the Wesley Community Center in Corpus Christi.

Locasio was born in Gary, Ind. and also traveled to Wales, Germany, England and Brazil while growing up. She also attended Cleveland State University and went to seminary school at Perkins School of Theology at Southern Methodist University.

Locasio also holds a graduate degree in educational psychology from the University of Texas at Austin.

The pastor said Monday that she enjoys being a part of the Robstown and Banquete communities and looks forward to working with members of the two churches "to enrich the lives of people in this area."

"It's going to be done with the work of our team members," Locasio said. "I'm looking forward to finding out what the community needs are and addressing them."

During her downtime from church activities, the pastor said she enjoys cooking, visiting museums, traveling, surfing the Internet, keeping in touch with family and friends and reading mystery books.

"It's been so much fun, just getting to know the people (in the community)," Locasio said. "They've come to see me and I've gone over to their houses - it's just been a lot of getting acquainted."
