OKLAHOMA CITY - Ashley A. Beverly of Robstown claimed the 2-year-old Mares Reserve World Championship title earlier this month at the Ford American Quarter Horse Youth Association World Championship Show in Oklahoma City.

Ashley won the title riding Bewitching Cool Kid, a 2006 Bay American Quarter Horse mare.

"Winning a Reserve World Championship title is one of the most prestigious awards in AQHYA show competition," said Bill Brewer, executive vice president of the American Quarter Horse Association.

Ashley was also a top 10 finalist in 3-year-old mares with One Hot Cha Cha, a 2005 Bay American Quarter Horse mare.

The show held Aug. 1-9 featured 2,748 entries from around the world competing for 33 world championship titles.

To qualify for the invitational event, exhibitors and their horses had to earn a certain number of points in AQHA-approved shows between May 1, 2007 and April 30, 2008.

"The Ford AQHYA World Championship Show is the premier event for AQHYA members," Brewer said.

The American Quarter Horse Journal will have the results of the Ford Youth World in the October issue.
