The School Board of Agua Dulce ISD convened Monday night in the elementary library for a meeting to discuss several issues that were up for review. Elementary and secondary school administrators gave updates and announcements, which were followed by a presentation made by Athletic Director Albert Byrum on the status of the Longhorn athletic program. The school board unanimously passed all items up for consideration.
The board also reviewed the 2010 District Accountability Gold Performance Acknowledgements regarding the performance of the students of ADISD. Overall the district received recognition for the Recommended High School Program (RHSP) overall TSI Math scores. The elementary was commended for its science scores at 41 percent, which is exceptional, and for the average attendance rate of 97.3 percent.
The secondary school was commended for Writing scores at 32 percent and a RHSP score of 90.5 percent overall. Present at the meeting were board members Diane Vajdos, Cathy Howard, Valerie Riggs, President Mike Carper, Yvette Saenz, and Stephen Donald. Absent was board member Tony Aguilar. Also attending was Jamie Barron, secretary of the Booster Club. Barron was there to discuss the addition of a baseball team and a school band for Agua Dulce.
"I think that a band is something that the kids need. They need a creative outlet," Barron said.
