H-E-B has issued two separate precautionary recalls for items that may have been recently purchased by consumers.
The grocery store chain last week began recalling packages of Luvs Candy Text Messages hard candy sold in all its stores after it was discovered that the fruit-flavored candy, manufactured by ZED Candy, may contain foreign material.
There have been no reports of illnesses or injuries; however, H-E-B officials said the company is taking all necessary precautions.
"We are committed to absolute and complete food safety," Winell Herron, H-E-B Group vice president of public affairs and diversity, said. "The product was removed from all our store shelves early this afternoon and has been disposed of safely."
H-E-Buddy snack packs that come packaged with a peanut butter dip are also part of a voluntary recall, this one issued Saturday.
The product contains peanut butter supplied by Peanut Corp. of America, which is being linked to a national outbreak of salmonella.
H-E-B officials said, as of Monday, no illnesses have been reported locally as a result of the salmonella outbreak.
In stores, signage has been posted notifying customers of the precautionary recalls.
Additionally, the products have been blocked in H-E-B's computer system to ensure none are sold at the register.
H-E-B officials said they are working closely with the products' manufacturers to resolve the issue.
H-E-B is asking anyone who purchased the products to return them to their nearest H-E-B store for a full refund.
Customers with any questions or concerns can contact H-E-B Customer Service at (800) 432-3113.
