Nueces County Record Star news editor Tim Olmeda has been promoted to managing editor, General Manager Nicole D. Perez announced Tuesday.
"While we are saddened Christopher Maher is moving on, we are excited to give Tim Olmeda the opportunity to serve as managing editor. He has shown his commitment to the communities the NCRS serves," Perez said. "I know he will continue to grow the community coverage we strive for in each issue."
Olmeda has served as news editor for the NCRS since June 2006. In his time with the NCRS, Olmeda has earned numerous awards in several categories, including serious column writing, news writing and headline writing.
In 2009, he earned an Associate's Degree in Communication from Del Mar College.
Maher, who has served as managing editor of the NCRS since September 2008, resigned last week to accept a position with the Kingsville Record.
"I've enjoyed my time with the NCRS and especially in getting to know the people of Nueces County," Maher said. "Tim is certain to continue to provide the quality coverage our readers expect from the Record Star."
