On Oct. 16, Nueces County 4-H Ambassadors and Council members volunteered their time at the Driscoll Children's Hospital NICU Reunion.
The volunteers were Mary McClendon, 4-H County Council Chair and 4-H Ambassador, MaKenna Duge, 4-H County Council First Vice and 4-H Ambassador, Ashley Richardson, 4-H County Council, and Kelsey Lange, 4-H County Council.
While over 150 NICU graduates and their parents enjoyed the festivities, the 4-Hers made snow cones, painted faces and helped children paint pumpkins, as well as monitored the Moon Jump and Tumble Bus. The 4-H members were amazed to hear the stories of some of the children who had overcome tremendous odds in life at such an early age as they interacted with the children and their families.
Part of 4-H's purpose is to teach youth to serve their community and Nueces County 4-Hers find a variety of ways to do this always working to "Make the Best Better".
