The body of a Robstown man was found in the Nueces River last week, the result of what police believe might have been an accidental drowning.
Officer Tony Acevedo of the Corpus Christi Police Department said on Monday two men from San Antonio had been fishing at Labonte Park when they saw the body floating in the river. They immediately called police, who responded to the scene with the Annaville Fire Department. Firefighters then removed the body, later identified as being that of 46-year-old Moises Lopez, from the water.
Acevedo said preliminary indications show Lopez's death might have been the result of an accidental drowning, as there were no signs of trauma or force on the body.
However, the final cause of death won't be announced until the conclusion of the medical examiner's report and toxicology tests, which could be completed sometime next month.
