Last week, 171,951 tax notices were mailed to Nueces County property owners, or their mortgage company electronically, Tax Collector Ronnie Canales said.

Taxpayers have until Jan. 31 to pay their taxes. On Feb. 1, penalty and interest will begin accumulating on unpaid tax bills, Canales said.

Canales said property owners who do not receive a tax bill by Oct. 15 should contact the Nueces County Tax Assessor-Collector office at (361) 888-0230.

Anyone 65 years of age or older, or are disabled, should contact the Appraisal District regarding any type of postponement in the payment of property taxes.

Tax bills may be paid online via credit card at, or by telephone at (800) 2PAYTAX.
