ROBSTOWN - Jose Juan “Johnny” Esquivel Sr., 75, was called home by our Lord and Savior on Saturday, February 25, 2017. He was born in Alice, Texas on May 13, 1941 to Noberto and Paula Gutierrez Esquivel. He was a Catholic, a member of St. Anthony’s Catholic Church and a lifelong resident of Robstown. He was a manager at Cotton’s BBQ for 55 years. He will be dearly missed by all of his family, friends, customers and all those that knew him.
He is preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Crisanto Esquivel and Daniel Esquivel; his sister, Mena Trammell; his in-laws, Augustin Ramos and Estel Ramos; and sister-in-law, Fina Mireles.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Maria Esquivel; his son, Jose Juan “Johnny” Esquivel, Jr.; his brothers, Noberto (Julia) Esquivel and Joe (Gloria) Esquivel; his sister, Minerva (Juan) Galvan. He will also be missed by his grandchildren, Jose Juan “Trey” (Crystal) Esquivel, III, Ashley Esquivel (Cody Lock), Kevin Esquivel; great-grandchildren, Mallory, Hailey, Valerie, Riley, Candace, Cyenna and Caroline; sisters-in-law, Rosario (Tomas) Martinez, Irma Garcia, and Martha (Alex) Longoria; nieces, Zulema Mae (Rick) Perez, Sylvia (the late Rudy) Contreras, Corie (Joel) Vasquez, Liza (Alvaro) Pena, and Yvonne Garcia; nephews, Alex (A.J.) Longoria Jr., Arturo (Sandy) Mireles, Edward Mireles and Marcelo Mireles. He will also be missed by numerous great nieces, great nephews and other relatives and friends.
A Rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, February 28, 2017 and Wednesday, March 1, 2017 at Ramon Funeral Home Chapel in Robstown, Texas. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday, March 2, 2017 at 10 a.m. at St. John’s Catholic Church in Robstown, Texas. Burial will follow to Memorial Park Cemetery in Robstown, Texas.
