Viola "Vickie" Wittliff Knief died at her home, Saturday, July 12, 2008, after a long battle with cancer.

She was born in Taylor on Jan. 8, 1923, to Albert and Louise Wittliff. She grew up in Corpus Christi and married her soul mate, Gordon Knief, in 1940. She owned and operated Vickie's Fabric Shop throughout the mid '60s and early '70s. She was a longtime member of St. John's Lutheran Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Gordon M. Knief; grandchild, Christopher M. Knief; brother and sister-in-law, Albert "Buck" and Shirley Wittliff; nephew, Bruce Wittliff; step-brother, Virgel DuBose; and many other family members and friends.

She is survived by her son, Steven Knief of Corpus Christi; daughter and son-in-law, Karen and Chad Lane of Odem; daughter-in-law, Connie Knief of Corpus Christi; grandchildren, Stephanie Knief of Corpus Christi, Kendra (Gary) Stump of Corpus Christi, Shawnda (Keith) Crice and Dylan Crice of Boerne; great-grandchildren, Ethan Stump and Kylie Selvera; step-sister, Ruby DuBose; step-brother, Wayne (Lynetta) DuBose; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Funeral services were conducted at 10 a.m. Wednesday, July 16, in the Sawyer-George Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Jeffrey Thompson officiating. Burial followed in Robstown Memorial Park.
